The Gumboot & Gumshoe Series

Reviews of Gumboots

I found this book to be quite fantastic! It’s a funny, cozy mystery set on an island where basically everyone knows one another. Everyone also knows Gertrude the pig and Peaches the cow. They were by far the most entertaining characters! The book moved at a swift pace and the characters were interesting. There were a lot of them though and at one point I did find myself having to think back to who was who. Other than that the book was a comical and quirky mystery that I really enjoyed. I definitely want to continue the series. I hope Gertrude and Peaches continue to make appearances in the books. The narrator really suited the story well. She brought the characters to life and added comedy to certain areas that may have seemed dull otherwise.” Audible Review

Very entertaining, makes you giggle. A light fun read ,with lovable characters. I found it easy to keep up with all all of them. Certainly a break from the mysteries I usually read . Fun!Amazon Review

I enjoyed this book. It had some unusual characters, some of the animal variety. The murder plot left you wondering where it was going until late in the story. The story isn’t quite a cliffhanger but you need to read the next book to see where the story is headed.Amazon Review

The narrator is very engaging and constantly keeps you on your toes with the authors trail of what happens next. The story line isn’t predictable, which makes it even more curious! The characters are well developed too! Highly recommend! “ Audible Review

Reviews of The Dastardly Mr. Deeds

“Very Enjoyable Read. The story was interesting and entertaining. I look forward to the next book to get the answers to the rest of the mysteries. I was delighted with the pig and cow. Having had an opinionated pig I can certainly empathize with the action created by the pair. Frankly, they stole the book.Amazon Review

“I really liked this book. I.laughed, got mad, shaped open mouthed at the antics and characters. It’s like a mystery soap opera.Amazon Review

I read the first book in this series “GUMSHOES, GUMBOOTS, and MURDER” and was not happy with the ending. I almost didn’t read this one. Fortunately I was desperate for reading material because this one is the bomb and actually made me like the first one. I don’t do spoilers so you’ll have to read them IN ORDER to know more. Definitely worth your time.Amazon Review

Reviews of Murder Most Fowl

“Most Awesome Series I’ve read in a long time. I started the first book because I thought the idea of a pig was I interesting. I quickly realized all the characters were fascinating and the plot quickly drew me in. I just finished the third book and I was thrilled with the end. I wish the author would write more books with Betty and the pot bellied pig and the cow!!” Amazon Review

“Raising game birds and growing organic herbs sounds like a very low stress occupation but with a little LSD and lethal lead tainted moonshine, murder peeps it’s head once more into Seal Island. Betty is still searching for the partially solved murders of three members of a book club. Archie and his poker buddies share gossip as easily as breathing but they also have secrets they want to keep hidden. Archie is the father of Betty Bruce, almost retired RCMP sergeant, living in Vancouver most of the time. She has been promoted and not so close to the action. Gertrude, the pot-bellied pig, and her partner-in-crime buddy, Peaches, a Jersey cow with a taste for flowers. continue their escapes from Archie’s barn. Tracking down the killers of two of the book club victims is a nonstop job for Betty. Summer River’s farm is bought by newcomers to the island. Guillotine’s, witch pyres, hidden stills, drug trafficking, and fatal jealousy ripen within the pages of this book. Fast paced hilarity along with mystery makes this a wonderful continuation of the series.” Amazon Review

Reviews of Gertrude & The Sorcerer’s Gold

“Betty has a mess on her hands again. Her pig found treasure and now everyone wants it. A flasher is also on the loose. Add in a cow, a few dogs, and guns you have a wild time.” Amazon Review

Another Gumboots and Gumshoes book about Betty Bruce, now special consultant to the RCMP after her retirement. Betty has returned to Seal Island, happily enjoying her blooming relationship with Reggie, seafarer and legal pot grower. The two of them are still adapting to the newness of their relationship while her father Archie has repaired his with Violet Bones, former judge and now permanent resident if the island. Gertrude spends most of her time with Peaches, (pot-bellied pig and Jersey cow respectively), in addition to Champ, a rehabilitated drug-sniffing dog adopted by Betty. The critters live mostly with Betty although they occasionally make their home at Archie’s. Strange lights in a supposedly empty house lead to a call for call Betty to investigate. A flasher who picks on old ladies, a death of another book club member, Gertrude’s discovery of a gold coin while hunting truffles during one of her walk-a-bouts ignite the citizens and tourists into mass treasure hunters. Betty is still trying to tie up lose ends to earlier deaths of some friends and wonders if somehow should have stayed in uniform. Gertrude as always is irascibly full of wanderlust and she keeps adding onto her posse over time. Never ending double trouble with a heart of gold in the middle.Amazon Review
